A good win on Wednesday from Spoof, who was supported on course. Just missed out on a terrific double when My Amigo was picked up in the last few yards.
1:50 Chester – Doctor Sardonicus
This is sure to be fast and furious though as always the inside looks the place to be. I have decided to avoid the fast horse in stall one approach though as it is already favourite, but also it has to concede 7lb to the better horse in Doctor Sardonicus. It doesn’t have to lead, in fact I think it will appreciate a nice tow into the race from the current favourite who may just struggle to get home. Either way it can sit in behind before pushing on when the rail goes hitting the straight. Happy that the trainer has stuck with the usual jockey for the horse. It enjoys tight turning tracks, it wouldn’t want the ground soft but knowing the trainer this horse would have been lined up for this race.

3:00 Chester – Another Batt
You know how we profited on Wednesday from backing a horse who was in form, had a good draw and held a considerable weight advantage over the field? Well here is another example with Another Batt who has stall 2 and is carrying 6lb more than the next horse in the weights. Add in the fact it is a prominent racer who was third in a better race than this last time and has leading jockey Sylvester De Souza on board, who is particularly adept on front runners! We saw on a couple of occasions the importance of a good draw and pace around here with a couple of horses kicking on and not getting caught, something My Amigo was very close to pulling off. This may well be another opportunity. Does face rivals that are relatively unexposed but its proven class can be put to good use. With confidence high I see this as a MAX e/w bet, fingers crossed it can avoid getting taken on for the lead!
