Open looking yearling stakes in which we have a few that have shown their hand and set a decent standard whilst we then have the unexposed, who are lightly raced but promise much. One of these is the well backed favourite Masaru for Richard Hannon. Won its debut in good style with the form working out well and the yard having won this the last twice it is no wonder it is now favourite. However, also pretty unexposed is Gallovie for the impressive Archie Watson yard. As a filly she gets the allowances so only has 8st 6lb to carry and impressed when winning at Windsor on her second start having been backed as though defeat was out of the question. Well bred, she is improving all the time and could well step up in this grade getting the weight and from a good draw. Both trainer and jockey are having a fine season and this would be just reward for their efforts.

This is mostly a bet on the scenario. The favourite hasn’t run all summer and off the track for 109 days which was clearly not planned so is recovering from injury. She was ante post favourite for the Oaks at one stage but assessing her form now she has beat nothing of note so far in two runs. Yes, she is open to improvement and could only beat what is put in front of her but I don’t think adding the evidence together it justifies her being such a short price for this contest. You then have a second favourite that took a massive walk in the betting last time in a four runner contest, opening at 2/1 but ending up at 7/2 and virtually pulling up. Could put your faith in her putting that run behind her though I am not convinced, certainly not at her price. Therefore I think Alwaysandforever looks the safest option. Consistent performer who has gone well in listed company the last three times and seems to get on particularly well with Ryan Moore who has the figures 2112 when riding her (342 under other jockeys). With the yard going well she seems most likely to give her running and if there are flaws in the front two in the betting then she will be there to capitalise.

Impressed me when winning at Newmarket but was bitterly disappointing when trying to follow up in a fillies handicap at Newbury. Was beaten far too early there to have been the fillies true ability. Only 5lb higher than its Newmarket win, it should get a good gallop to chase in a field like this and from the inside stall it will have plenty of options. Form of its last win was franked when the 3rd won a handicap next time. Clearly its an open race but she looks great value if can return to her Newmarket run.
