Early Bird – 30th March

1:30 Lingfield – Swift Approval

Not always easy to make all at this track though I find it is surprisingly easier in apprentice races probably because those in behind don’t judge the pace as well and can leave it too late. Therefore you have to rate the chances of Swift Approval especially as I feel there is only one other horse that could give it competition for the lead. A winner on its only try over course and distance and off just a 1lb lower mark it is certainly weighted to be competitive. Not suited to the straight track of Newcastle the time before and the drop to 6f and a wideish draw certainly didn’t help at Wolverhampton last time, those runs can be ignored. From stall 1 it is primed to take the shortest route and Stuart Williams the trainer is very good at targeting the races he wants to win. It can certainly belie its odds, especially if getting an uncontested lead.

0.75pt e/w Swift Approval @ 16/1 1/5th odds 4 places

3:40 Lingfield – Corinthia Knight

Looks a class apart from what it has shown so far and price seems pretty fair considering. 6 from 8 on the a/w so far with nothing getting to within a length of it on his last three starts. Has also proven flexible having made all in a small field as well as taking a lead and picking up. Nice middle draw it can keep its options open and with Oisin Murphy on board it will be disappointing if he doesn’t win.

4:40 Lingfield – Utmost

Another that I feel has the potential to make all in this field. Winner over course and distance two runs back and then tried to make all in the Winter Derby but just got swamped late on. This is another chance to attempt that though may even get a lead off something instead to help see the trip out. Atzeni takes over in the saddle and with it closely matched with several of these it looks a bit of value.

1pt win Utmost @ 7/1 Willhill and Boylesport
