Buzz, our sole bet of the day, advised at 13/8 ended up winning at Even money.
8:25 Newbury – Emerald Cross
Just going to have a small bet on this horse which caught the eye last year when 2nd in a race which has worked out well. Certainly on that basis it looks well handicapped off its current mark. Can forgive its last run as it finished lame. Was 14/1 for that class 4 affair yet is over 20/1 in a class 5. Admittedly it is returning after a 138 day absence but I am trying to see being off the track as less of an obstacle these days whilst the yard had a couple of winners recently, one under this same jockey. Takes on a few in form rivals but its price seems too big to me.

2:20 Yarmouth – Haveoneyourself
Not often keen to be backing horses who won last time out and turned out quickly under a penalty as I feel many get beaten these days so when the handicapper does reassess then they are more leniently. Prepared to make an exception here for the John Butler who was somewhat a surprise winner over course and distance last week. Yard like a gamble though usually it is on horses that are in form and so already relatively short in the betting. The belief that they are all 20/1 with no form is a myth. Makes sense as well, if you are going to invest a large sum of money betting a horse then you want it in good form and proven itself, which is the case here. With a top apprentice booked I am hopeful it can repeat last weeks win.
