Early Bird – 9th May

3:00 Chester – Spoof

I am a big fan of horses carrying weight around Chester, a tight turning track. Because horses never get to hit top speed then they find it a lot easier and weight becomes less relevant. That is significant especially in handicaps. Therefore Spoof who carries 7lb more in weight than the next rival over the 5f trip, and drawn in 3 looks to have an outstanding chance of stamping its class on this field. Admittedly was well drawn also at Sandown last time but it tops the RPR easily whilst its topspeed is only one off the highest. Ground is no issue, if it gets out well then it should take a lot of beating.

5:05 Chester – My Amigo

Tipped this last time when just beat by a well handicapped Varian runner. Nothing of that sort here it seems whilst weight in the race is of little relevance considering how tight the handicap is (Just 3lb covers top to bottom). Therefore it is important to concentrate on the well handicapped horses of which My Amigo is definitely one. Moved yards and a wind operation, along with the tongue tie saw improvement last time and though gone up 3lb in the weights I don;t think it is enough to stop it. Has a good draw and jockey goes well at the track. Everything points towards this being the one they have to beat.
