Early Service – 28th June

A good winner with Vixen on Wednesday who benefited from a great ride rewarding our bet at 10/1. The fate of Knight Commander was clear in the betting as it took a major walk out to 14/1 through the day and was never put into the race.

2:40 Newmarket – Vegas Boy

Interesting runner for the Jamie Osborne yard having its second run after a wind operation. Had looked useful on the a/w, picking up well to win a couple of handicaps. Has yet to show that form on turf which may explain its big price though to be fair it has been 33/1 twice and 16/1 for three of its four turf races with the 4th run the only time it has raced over 7f which it clearly didn’t stay. Unlucky not to finish closer last time at Kempton when dropped in from a wide draw and getting hampered up the rail when making its move. Still stayed on well at the finish to take third without ever getting near the winner who it meets on 4lb better terms here and who had the run of the race. This is tougher but the yard is in good form, horses also seem to show improvement on their second run after a wind op whilst it should be well suited to the straight 6f and how this race is run.
