Form Guru – 10th July

Yesterday finished in profit when Midnight Gem returned place money at Worcester and Temasek Star was a comfortable winner at Wolverhampton.

Today’s Selections:

2.45 – Wolverhampton – Art Echo. 1.25 pts e/w. Available at 10/1.

The eight pound weight for age allowance the three year olds get make them of interest in this race and the one to appeal most amongst the trio present is Dutch Monarch. However at a much bigger price topweight Art Echo could return to form back on an A/W surface. He produced a creditable performance on his reappearance at Doncaster in March but hasn’t been able to repeat it in three starts since. They all came in a better grade than he encounters today and they have resulted in an eight pound ease in the weights. That has enabled him to take this drop in class and the last two times he has done similar he  returned a close second at Musselburgh from a six pound higher mark and a victory at Doncaster from three pound lower in the handicap. His only two previous starts on an artificial surface saw him finish a length and a length and half off the winner over this C/D and at Kempton respectively. Those efforts came from a six pound higher mark in better races and he would be seriously competitive against this level of opposition if he were to repeat either performance. He has the widest draw to overcome but he is normally held up so it’s likely he will be dropped in for a late run.

3.15 – Wolverhampton – Ebbisham. 2.5 pts win. Available at 9/2. (888Sport)

For a relatively small yard it may be asking a bit much for them to record a double with their only two runners at the races today. Ebbisham, like Art Echo in the previous race, represents John Mackie and also sports top weight. He was below form when last seen in February over this C/D but he over-raced that day and was hampered in the latter stages. Prior to that he had gone close from today’s mark over the extended mile here in a better race and he wouldn’t be far away today judged on that effort. He comes here on the back of a 150 day break but all his four victories have come after a significant absence, three of them coming after 182, 101 and 115 days off the track (the other after 62 days). His best three career performances have come on this track, one of them under today’s jockey, from just four previous visits.

3.45 – Wolverhampton – Ubla. 2.5 pts win. Available at 9/2.

3.30 – Pontefract – Raselasad. 2.5 pts win. Available at 9/2.
