It’s How We Roll was a non runner yesterday. Wind In My Sails was beaten just over a length into third at Newbury and Ocelot was a short head from making the frame at Haydock. At Nottingham, Agueroo stumbled from the stalls and was slowly away. In the circumstances he did well to finish a six length sixth at the line.
3.20 – Newton Abbot – Starlit Night. 1 pt e/w. Available at 14/1. (Coral – 1/5 odds first 4)
After finishing second twice at this track last season, Starlit Night won at Stratford from today’s mark. The wheels seem to fall off afterwards because she disappointed on her last three starts of the campaign. She was again well beaten on her reappearance over C/D earlier this month but she ran as though needing the outing and could be seen to better effect this afternoon. She gets on well with her five pound claimer and three of her best four performances have come on good ground or faster. She is best when leading or racing prominently and in a race lacking in much pace she could have the race run to suit. The yard had a welcome winner recently and they send just the one to the races today.
3.30 – York – Classic Seniority. 1.25 pts e/w. Available at 10/1. (Betfred, Boylesports, totesport.com – 1/5 odds first 5)
This is a very competitive seven furlong handicap and, although several of those toward the head of the market have form on fast ground, most of their best form has been under slower conditions. That doesn’t apply to Classic Seniority who seems to handle most ground. He hasn’t been quite at his best so far this season but he has been suggesting he is working his way back to it. He won this race in 2016 and third in it last season so it’s likely he has been primed for another attempt this time round. He is equally effective at six or seven furlongs and he is three pounds below his last winning mark. In addition to his two runs in this race his only other attempt over seven furlongs here resulted in a third of seventeen a few seasons back. There appears to be an even spread of pace both high and low so his draw in stall five should be no problem and he looks primed for a big effort.
5.45 – Aintree – Craggaknock. 1.5 pts win. Available at 9/1.
Preference in this Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle is for topweight, Craggaknock. He produced his best start for current connections last time out at Market Rasen over an extended 18 furlongs and he did some good late work under pressure there to finish a two length second. He steps back up to 20 furlongs here and, although he hasn’t troubled the judge in three previous attempts over it, he gives the strong impression that it will suit at some point. He was 12 furlong winner on the flat and his current mark is one he can be competitive from. He won’t want the ground drying too much more and, if it does, he is likely to be withdrawn.
6.05 – Goodwood – Parnassian. 2.5 pts win. Available at 5/1.
6.50 – Aintree – Fact Of The Matter. 2 pts win. Available at 13/2.
7.30 – Chepstow – Champagne Bob. 0.75 pts e/w. Available at 25/1. (Marathon Bet)
