2.50 – Ripon – Cheeky Rascal. 0.75 pts e/w. Available at 14/1.
There are a few in this race who may have more to come. As a fourteen raced Maiden, Cheeky Rascal probably isn’t one of them. He disappointed last time out at Brighton but that came just two days after finishing second to a progressive type at Newbury and he may have been feeling the effects of that race. Both those efforts came over 12 furlongs and prior to that he had raced over the same trip and 14 furlongs. He looks rather pace-less so the drop back to ten furlongs here could be seen as a negative. However there aren’t many who will want to take up front running duties and Cheeky Rascal has been known to lead several times in the past. If he does so again, his jockey may elect to use his stamina to good effect and that could see him make the frame at the very least. Normally seen on faster ground, the closest he has come to winning was on soft ground at Sandown so conditions here shouldn’t pose a problem. The yard have a 26% strike rate here in recent seasons so their runners are always worth noting.
3.40 – Epsom – C’est No Mour. 3 pts win. Available at 4/1.
C’est No Mour won this race last season under today’s jockey and Simon Walker is always one to note in races of this nature. Conditions may be a bit slower than ideal but he went close in soft ground at Newmarket this time last season so he may get through it OK. A three pound respite from the Assessor enables him to take a drop in class and it was only three starts ago that he produced a career best at Windsor. Two of his four victories have come over C/D and he represents a yard who have a 4 from 7 record here in recent seasons yielding a l.s.p of £21.
4.20 – Chepstow – Eternal Destiny. 2 pts win. Available at 6/1.
4.35 – Ripon – Just Hiss. 1.25 pts e/w. Available at 11/1.
4.55 – Chepstow – Indiana Dawn. 0.5 pts e/w. Available at 22/1.
