Form Guru – 31st May

None of our selections gave us a return yesterday but it was one of those nearly days. Zwayyan finished second and Fisher Green third at Nottingham and Liquid Gold also found one too good at Beverley.

Today’s Selections:

2.40 – Lingfield – Miskin. 1 pt e/w. Available at 11/1.

It’s anyone’s guess how much rain will arrive at Lingfield but it seems sensible to side with horses who at least have shown they can handle testing conditions. Guards Chapel is into veteran status now but if there is a deluge he will handle the ground better than most. However a chance is taken on the bigger priced Miskin. Two of his five victories in France came on soft ground with two others on G/S ground. He was well beaten on his reappearance at Salisbury but 14 furlongs in heavy ground may have placed too much emphasis on his stamina and the drop back in trip here looks a wise move. Although yet to win on these shores the balance of his form last season, including being placed three times, suggests he can exploit a mark of 55. The booking of a good Claimer who takes off five pounds won’t do his chances any harm.

4.10 – Lingfield:

Balgowlah. 1.5 pts win. Available at 15/2.

Beloved Knight. 1.5 pts win. Available at 15/2.

A handicap for three year olds and one in which there is a likelihood of several who won’t handle the ground if heavy rain arrives. Balgowah has finished nearer last than first in three Novice outings to date but he has shown improvement from race to race and enters handicap company on a very lowly mark. This is his first start on turf but he is related to a couple of much better horses who handled soft ground and his Sire has produced horses who are better with cut in the ground from a limited number so far. The stable are in good form and two of the eight entries they have made here in recent seasons have won (two finished second, two third and one fourth) Beloved Knight also represents an in-form yard. He has only raced on the A/W so far and, although winless in seven races to date, he has shown enough ability to be considered from his current mark. His Dam handled testing conditions and the sire has produced plenty who have done likewise.

4.50 – Wolverhampton – Canadian Royal. 1 pt e/w. Available at 20/1.

5.20 – Wolverhampton – False ID. 2 pts win. Available at 11/2.

5.10 – Lingfield – Renny’s Lady. 2.5 pts win. Available at 9/2.
