The weather has again taken it’s toll and only the A/W meetings survive on these shores. Most of the racing makes little appeal but there are a few at bigger prices that may give us a run for our money.
1.40 – Lingfield – Bookmaker. 1 pt e/w. Available at 14/1.
A low grade affair but two come into the race on the back of victories and one has won two of his last three. Unsurprisingly they head the market but, at a much bigger price, it may be worth taking a chance on Bookmaker. It’s been sixteen races since January of last year when he last got his head in front but he is now three pounds lower in the weights and has got competitive on a number of occasions since then. He finished last in a Seller over ten furlongs here yesterday but he was only beaten three lengths and he stuck to his task quite well considering he was a little bit too keen through the first half of the race. Prior to that he wasn’t beaten far by two of today’s rivals, Ertidaad and Tarseekh, and he weighted to get closer to them today. He has run well after a quick reappearance in the past.
2.10 – Lingfield – Exspectation. 1.25 pts e/w. Available at 11/1.
Exspectation is still a maiden after eleven starts but he caught the eye making late ground over C/D last time out on the back of a 53 day break. He also ran well over this C/D three starts ago and is now four pounds below that mark. Both those efforts came under today’s jockey and there may be a bit more to come from him at this level. His Dam was nothing special but her best form came later in her racing career and her offspring could be a similar type. He was good enough to be rated fourteen pounds higher on the back of his Juvenile form so there may be plenty of mileage in his current mark if he is a late bloomer.
4.15 – Lingfield – Supersymmetry. 0.75 pts e/w. Available at 20/1.
