All of our selections ran well yesterday. X Rated (2nd at Lingfield) and See Vermont (3rd at Musselburgh) were only overhauled in the latter stages of their respective races. London Glory (4th at Musselburgh) was given an overly confident ride by Joe Fanning and was unable to pick up as well as he expected him to. The day ended in profit when Nibras Galaxy was a winner at Redcar and Turasoir returned place money when finishing third at Clonmel.
2.40 – Musselburgh:
Royal Brave. 2 pts win. Available at 6/1. (Sportingbet)
Harome. 0.75 pts e/w. Available at 16/1. (Generally available – 1/5 odds first 4)
The first handicap on Musselburgh’s card is a competitive five furlong sprint. There looks likely to be a strong pace put to the race and slight preference is for Royal Brave and Harome. Royal Brave has a good draw in stall 13 and he will find this race much more to his liking than when fifth of the nine runners over this C/D last time out. That came in a much better Conditions race and he was beaten a respectable ten lengths. Back in handicap company on a track where he has produced two of his best three career efforts he is now five pounds below his last winning mark. He is versatile regarding ground conditions and represents a yard who have had two winners and two placed from their last eight entries in the past week. Harome was well beaten on his reappearance on the A/W at Newcastle last month but he produced a similar performance on his first start last season before winning second time up from a one pound higher mark than he runs from today. He finished off the campaign with three of his best four career efforts and he could have more to offer this season.
3.10 – Musselburgh – Arcadian Angel. 2.5 pts win. Available at 11/2.
Arcadian Angel returned to the fray on the A/W in February and all her starts since have been on the Tapeta at Wolverhampton. Her six career starts on the A/W have produced similar displays and the evidence of last season suggests she is a better horse on turf. She is now three pounds below the mark from which she won at Doncaster last July and that was the culmination of a string of good efforts since debuting at Newcastle. She was subsequently below that level in her final two starts but one of them came from outside the weights in a much better York handicap. She won’t lack for fitness and the yard have a healthy 17% strike rate here in recent seasons.
4.40 – Musselburgh – Mooltazem. 1 pt e/w. Available at 12/1.
7.30 – Newcastle:
Von Blucher. 1.5 pts win. Available at 8/1.
War Department. 1 pt e/w. Available at 12/1. (Sportingbet)
7.40 – Cork – Casadel Sol. 0.75 pts e/w. Available at 20/1. (Betfred, totesport.com – 1/5 odds first 5)
