GM – 2nd June – Greyhound Derby Final Card & Selections

Romford Review
Hope ran a flat race but you could forgive her a bad run.
Lady did indeed win this week after we sacked her.
Steve ran no sort of race for us. Hey ho.
* One of the best nights of the year has arrived, lots of Greyhound fans are making there way to Towcester this evening
A full 14 Race open card with lots of variety, here is my preview of the card with actual selections at the bottom of the page. It’s tempting to bet in every race but folly to do so*
Race 1 – 6.29 – The evening kicks off with the Derby inter track final – heat winners Ashakiran & Ballinclare Solo were both impressive. There was five spots between them but I’m going for Mark Wallis to get his Derby evening off to a flyer here with Ashakiran who has the best early. *She was advised as an Ante Post bet on Thursday at 2/1 when we knew Solo was a non runner. She’s 5/4 now. 2-6
Race 2 – 6.48 – A humdinger of a sprint contest here and its very hard to select the winner.
Queen Anna would be my token selection just in front of the very well drawn Affane Party and Kilmore Lemon. It’s not a race to have a bet in – just watch it and enjoy! 3-1 No bet.
Race 3 – 7.08 – The puppies are up next and another tricky contest to solve here.
There is not a lot to between them on split times and they could all be roaring into the bend together. Though his trial was very good on the eye the time was a tad disappointing but I’m going to overlook that and select the pup with the best form in that book. Ballymac Defo has done us all a few favours this year winning 7/10 in his fledgling career so far. 3-5 No bet.
Race 4 – 7.26 – The ladies are next on show here and again like most of the races on this quality card it’s a difficult puzzle to solve.
Sylvia’s Chloe will take them along but will the 500 distance catch her out, Geelo Zip may get a tow round but is she quick enough – not  based on her trials here – Bull Run Button ran ok in the Derby but not as good as she had been running elsewhere – Ninja Penny will be staying on as will Greenwell Jean – Donation is classy, she has won 13/20 races it but needs an easy lead with nothing underneath her. No bet.
Race 5 – 7.47 – The Derby Plate Final and we are sitting pretty with both Droopys Expert advised at 11/4 and Sporting Dave advised at 12/1 ante post in the Final. There trading at 4/5 and 11/2. I would hope that one of them wins for us. King Kid could take advantage if our runners crowd each other. 4-3
Race 6 – 8.05 – The Stayers are on show now and it’s another very hot contest.
Rubys Rascal merits serious consideration from a perfect trap one draw at his favourite track.
Last years winner Russelena Reggie arrives in nowhere near such good form.
Ridgedale Max has looked decent since properly stepping up in trip and has trialled very well here. Bubbly Big Eddie is pitched in the deep end and Bangor Ella has won here this year over c&d but needs to lead. Regency winner Clares Kyletaun arrives in sparkling form but I’m not sure Towcester is his track!
At the prices I have to have a go split stakes with Rubys Rascal & Ridgedale Max. 1-3  3-1
Race 7 – 8.24 – Derby Invitation A is the next race to ponder.
I like the bookends here – Bubbly Bluebird and Innocent Times.
Bluebird is well drawn on the rails with Crossfield Will certain to move middle from trap two and Bluebird was a shade unfortunate to exit the Derby in the Quarter Finals.
Innocent Times went out in the Semi Finals after he missed the break and was crowded behind the fast starting Whoops Jack. One of these will gain some consolation here.
Crossfield Will would win if he repeated his bingo break but I’m not a believer.
I can’t have Droopys Dresden, Magical Bale or Saleen Ash.
So split stakes again here. 1-6 6-1
Race 8 – 8.44 – The Dorando Marathon is always a race I like.
Last year Aayamza Breeze got up in the shadow of the post to deny Slick Strauss and Adamant Jim was third. They will surely be involved in the finish again. Strauss led but was done for middle before staying on again with Breeze was stopped in her run a couple of times but still got there. Its a six dog contest tonight not the eight runners it was last year. Millroad Smokey was third in the Tv Trophy Final. I favour Breeze to complete the Dorando double over Strauss & Smokey. 3-1 3-2
Race 9 – 9.04 – The Derby Final – I think Mark Wallis will get Bruisers Bullet out of the boxes really well tonight as he is a master at doing this and it will give him every chance of going round handy behind whatever leads and he will run it down close home.
Whether that be Verve, Wildcat or Jack. 2-3 2-4 2-6

Race 10 – 9.35 – Champion Hurdle Final as I have said is great for the spectators but doesn’t rock my boat as far as betting goes. Lenson Wilson the current favourite had every chance when beaten in the heats when beaten, so he’s there to be taken on. Darkcat Padme can take them along as she did in the heats and that may inconvenience Wilson. Ricky Holloway’s other runner Shaneboy Bowie can therefore land the 50/1 ante post tip from the Racing Post. He came home strongly to land the heat and he can win the final with a similar performance. 3-1 No bet.
Race 11 – 9.53 – The Veterans take centre stage next. Ballymac Ramsey has been beset by injuries and hasn’t raced much but clocked a decent 15.25 sprint. Shaneboy Freddie & Boylesports Duke performed well in the Derby. Barricane Tiger is still mixing it very good company and won’t be far away. Tricky race to solve so watching brief. No bet.

Race 12 – 10.11 – Invitation B which is a wide open contest with all the runners having clocked around 29.30 over c&d. Wildfire Legend looks a guaranteed leader and may prove hard to reel in. If Ninja Fortune can get the better of Karlow Scholar to the corner and go round in pursuit he could reel in the early leader. 1-4
Race 13 – 10.29 – British Bred up next and surely this will be a penalty kick for King Turbo.
He will have to look lovely to clear Romeo Mandate but if doing so he will turn this into a procession. Local runner Far Bank Frank can also contest the race early. 2-1 No bet.
Race 14 – 10.47 – Stayers B is a race with lots of early paced hounds who is going to get round in front? Moreton Madras had the inside line can he hold Paradise Valdez into the bend. Minnie’s Highway, Garryglass Champ and Searchforahero all have to be off the front – Gazilly Shay hasn’t been round here. No bet.
