2:40 Ayr – Wot A Shot
A 9yo taking on some unexposed rivals but this looks a solid e/w chance in the race, backing a horse where you know what you get. The form of its last run has worked out very well with the runner up winning twice since and is now rated 22lb higher, whilst the 3rd has won twice since also and is 18lb higher! All this suggests that the 10lb rise should be no issue whatsoever. Hopefully the ground will dry out more as its best form is on good ground whilst the minimum trip is best. Obviously the rise in grade is a concern along with the absence, though has won after 169 days off in the past. Yard form is fine, it can go well e/w.

6:55 Southwell – Sneaking Budge
Taking a little pot chance on this horse for the in form and underrated Stuart Edmunds yard. Has dropped dramatically in the weights to a mark fully 20lb lower than a year and a half ago, though only had four runs since then. Has shown promise in one of them off a mark 12lb higher and was gambled in to 15/8 next time only to run a flat race on the heavy ground. On a better surface here and at the minimum trip and on the back of a wind operation since last seen I think we may well see a big run.
