Nabbed a place from Fire Tree, once again paying to shop around for the best e/w terms having finished 5th.
3:40 Redcar – Sha La La La Lee
Dominating win last time on the aw, making all to win a class 5 in a first time hood. Will need the headgear to work again but already shown that it handles a turf surface last year and a mark of 83 doesn’t look harsh. With negativity in the betting surrounding the majority of the opposition then this looks to have a very good opportunity to add to the win.
1.5pt win Sha La La La Lee @ 13/8 Paddy and Betfair Sportsbook
8:50 Chelmsford – Jeremiah
Very well regarded by the yard, apparently they even think it may be up to group standard so should be capable of picking up a handicap off a mark of 80. Has steadily improved in all three runs according to RPR, impressing last time in a 20 runner Newbury maiden that looks solid. The easy ground may not of been in its favour plus it should also benefit from a step up in trip here. Not taken long for connections to get this into handicap company, it should go close.
1pt win Jeremiah @ 6/1 Betfair and Paddy Power
Finally, also will give a small tip for a dog in the Greyhound Derby which begins Thursday night. The dog is Black Farron and is currently 50/1 with Paddy Power and Betfair. I am friendly with one of the part owners of the dog so have took a keen interest in its career. Was runner up in the Irish Derby last year before moving to the Mark Wallis yard and taking in the Scottish Derby where once again it made the final only to get badly bumped at the first, coming last. Does show it has a good history of taking in races with a build up to a final which is always a concern for a dog, having to take so many races in over a shortish period of time. Seems to have taken to Towcester well, it actually ran in a race there a little while back where despite being drawn in stall 5 for a rail runner, it picked up the very well regarded (and half the price in the betting for the Derby) Doratas Wildcat. Unlikely to race from that wide again but does at least show its flexibility and track craft that it can race from any box. That could be important as it is birthed in trap 3 for its opening heat on Saturday. Not the easiest of heats with the Scottish Derby winner in 5 and a Scottish Puppy winner in 6. However, looks much better than the dogs on its inside and so should be able to progress. Fingers crossed that it can complete the hat trick of finals!
