Form Guru – 13th September

None of our four selections gave us a return yesterday but three of them were unlucky not to do so. Conversant was trapped on the rail with nowhere to go at Carlisle. He met trouble as he tried to rein back and come round the field and by the time he found daylight the principals had flown. He made some eye-catching late gains to finish seventh, beaten just over five lengths. Cut in the ground seems important to him and, when he gets it, he could be one to keep on the right side of. Sheepscar Lad also made late ground at Doncaster and was never closer than at the finish, going down by just over two lengths in fourth. Over at Kempton, Squire found only one a short head too good when finishing second. Withernsea was the only disappointment on the day.
Today’s Selections:
3.35 – Doncaster:
Aim Power. 2.5 pts win. Available at 5/1.
Good Luck Fox. 0.5 pts e/w. Available at 28/1. (Bet365 – 1/4 odds first 4)
Richard Hannon looks determined to pick up this very valuable prize for two year olds having six of the 22 entries. It’s two of his sextet, both in the same ownership, that are slightly preferred. Aim Power receives weight from the rest and she wouldn’t need to find much improvement to get competitive with the best of these. After winning a Novice race at Windsor on her second start, she was beaten less than two lengths in a Group Three on her next outing at Goodwood. She arguably bettered that effort at the same track last time out where she met some trouble and still got within two lengths of the front two giving them lumps of weight in a Nursery. She has proven herself over seven furlongs so the likely fast pace of this race could bring that stamina into play. Her races have all come on good ground but there is soft ground influence on her Dam’s side so any cut in the ground shouldn’t pose a problem. Good Luck Fox has plenty to find on these terms with the best of these but he has improved significantly in winning his last two starts and another major step forward may be forthcoming. He beat an 89 rated rival with consummate ease last time out at Sandown so today’s initial mark of 90 looks fair. The step up in trip could also unlock further potential and he won’t lack for assistance from the saddle.
3.45 – Hamilton – Willsy. 0.75 pts e/w. Available at 16/1.
4.05 – Doncaster – Dougan. 1.75 pts e/w. Available at 15/2. (Coral, SportingBet – 1/4 odds first 4)
5.35 – Ffos Las – Alucinado. 0.75 pts e/w. Available at 16/1. (Bet365)
