Form Guru – 25th July

Silently was beaten just under two lengths into fourth at Ffos Las yesterday. Kroy found one too good at Newcastle but Andy’s Girl was disappointing at Musselburgh. Our day did end in a small profit with the victory of Long John Silver at Ffos Las. Our other selection in the same race, Cape Caster, finished fourth.

Today’s Selections:

1.50 – Lingfield – Three Gracez. 1.5 pts e/w. Available at 8/1.

Vixen is a short priced favourite for this one mile handicap on the polytrack and, given her win over a furlong shorter last time out at Kempton, she arguably deserves to be. The runner up, another progressive Filly, has since franked the form and Vixen will probably follow up here off a five pound higher mark if she progresses again. She could be difficult to beat but there are a few at bigger prices who look capable of making the frame at least. Slight preference of those is for Three Gracez. She last tasted success back in March 2016 from a mark of 82 but it’s mainly been downhill since then both in this country and in France. However, making her debut for her current trainer, she traveled kindly on the front end over seven furlongs here on turf last month and wasn’t given a hard time once her lack of fitness seemed to tell in the latter stages. She could come on for that first in a year and a further two pound drop in the weights leaves her on a mark of 63. The return to polytrack will suit and she stays this extra furlong. The yard have done well with their A/W horses and the booking of Martin Harley, who is 3 from 6 for the Trainer on artificial surfaces, takes the eye.

5.10 – Catterick:

Danish Duke. 1.5 pts win. Available at 8/1.

Unnoticed. 1.5 pts win. Available at 9/1. (MarathonBet, Skybet, Betway)

This might not take much winning and that’s good news for Danish Duke and Unnoticed. Danish Duke ran well on his reappearance at Thirsk in April but hasn’t been in the same form in five starts since. However they have come in mainly much better races than this from higher marks and he could stage a revival here now he drops back into this grade from a career low mark of 55. James Sullivan, who has been on board for four of his five career victories, is back on board and two of those wins came over this C/D. Unnoticed finds winning very difficult but his best two performances this season came the only time he has raced over six furlongs. The first of those came on his reappearance at Thirsk and he is closely weighted with the much shorter priced Searanger on that form. He stays further and normally travels well in his races but it’s likely to take all the skill of his jockey to put his nose in front as late as possible. Fortunately, at least his jockey knows him well and it may not be a coincidence that those best efforts this season both came the only times he was on board.

5.30 – Leicester – Big Amigo. 0.75 pts e/w. Available at 33/1. (Generally available – 1/5 odds first 4)

5.45 – Catterick – King Of The Celts. 1.25 pts e/w. Available at 9/1.

6.55 – Sandown – Compas Scoobie. 1 pt e/w. Available at 12/1.
