Uttoxeter 12.05

Safe Harbour. He’s very much a chaser in the making, He is a big horse who has grown no end. He came out of his last race well and seems in good form at home. Should have a good e/w chance.

Like The Sound. Like The Sound will need a handicap mark before getting competitive so is best watched for the time being.

Annie Alainn is in grand order, winning her last two races and barring any accidents she should win again. She will enjoy conditions and should take some stopping.

Uttoxeter 2.55

MAHLERS STAR (2m7f Handicap Hurdle 2.55pm) I have been keeping an eye on this fellow of late since he caught my eye staying on well from an unpromising position to finish a closing third over 2m4f at Stratford back in October.

Since then he has ran twice, he found Cheltenham too hot, but last timeout he ran a similar kind of race to the one at Stratford, where he stayed on o.k to finish second over 2m5f at Ludlow.

It`s possible he may improve over the extra couple of furlongs and at 9/1 I don`t mind finding out. It`s a wide-open affair but 1pt e/way is plenty to get involved.

Rock My Style. This horse doesn’t show a lot at home, but he will like the ground and 7lb off his back will help him. Hoping for a nice run and he will have a bit of a chance.

1.45 – Uttoxeter:

Dalkadam. 2 pts win. Available at 11/2.

Aza Run. 1 pt win. Available at 14/1.

Glimpse Of Gold heads the market and deserves to based on his third in a better race at Hereford last time out but there are viable alternatives at bigger prices. Dalkadam was third on his debut on these shores at Doncaster last season but he didn’t repeat it in four subsequent outings (three over fences). It was a similar story on his reappearance but he showed the benefit of that outing when finishing fourth in soft ground over 20 furlongs here earlier this month. The assessor has been kind in dropping him another three pounds and he could get competitive if he builds on that effort. His best performance in France came in heavy ground over fences and the return to such ground is in his favour. Aza Run may need this outing but his best three runs over hurdles have all come on heavy ground and he isn’t badly weighted judged on those performances. If he is fit enough to do himself justice he could outrun his odds and make the frame at least.

2.55 – Uttoxeter – Belize. 1 pt e/w. Available at 16/1.
